Balance For Boxing
Canadian super featherweight Golden Garcia is now 2-0 with 1KO at the start of his professional boxing career.
Golden trains with Erik Bazinyan and Kevin Lavallée in Montreal. All three boxes are conditioned by professional sports trainer Damien Orfanou. Based in Montreal, Damien is an athletic therapist, kinesiologist and massage therapist who trains athletes to achieve peak performances.
MMA fighter Robert Whiteford is also using the Rooboard for balance and stability training.
The Rooboard is perfect for sports specific training as it works muscles groups in isolation. Muscular imbalances can seriously hamper performance. Training with the Rooboard will allow you to identify and correct your imbalances and achieve perfect muscular symmetry and balance for your sporting activities.
When an athlete comes to train with me I always start them on exercises that train their legs independently.
We start with balancing on one leg to single leg squats, pistol squats, step ups, etc. Strengthening legs independently creates stability, once you have stability you have power and an efficiency of movement. The Rooboard allows me to strengthen the forefoot, the ankle, the knee and the hip. All single leg exercises also work your core because you must also stabilize and control your pelvis (not allowing your pelvis to sway from side to side). All my athletes love the Rooboard from the professional boxers to the Ultraman triathletes, I cannot train them without it. It looks deceptively simple but I dare you to try it. Try it only once and you will instantly see it’s potential.” Damien Orfanou
