We are delighted to see Erik Bazinyan notch up another win as he moves up the professional ranks. Erik is now 7-0 with 4 KOs and is ranked 137th in the world (out of 998) and 5th in Canada as a light heavyweight (out of 21).
Canadian Erik is conditioned by sports clinic owner Damien Orfanou in Montreal. Damien (blue cap) is an athletic therapist, kinesiologist and massage therapist who trains athletes to achieve peak performances.
As part of their balance and stability training routine they use the Rooboard to increase functional power from unbalanced positions.
Sports Specific Training
All my athletes love the Rooboard from the professional boxers to the Ultraman triathletes, I cannot train them without it. It looks deceptively simple but I dare you to try it. Try it only once and you will instantly see it’s potential.
When an athlete comes to train with me I always start them on exercises that trains their legs independently. We start with balancing on one leg to single leg squats, pistol squats, step ups, etc. Strengthening legs independently creates stability, once you have stability you have power and an efficiency of movement. The Rooboard allows me to strengthen the forefoot, the ankle, the knee and the hip. All single leg exercises also work your core because you must also stabilize and control your pelvis (not allowing your pelvis to sway from side to side).
