Three is the magic number when it comes to press ups and outdoor training. Use these 3 press-ups on the Rooboard balance board to develop dynamic chest strength.
1. Sidewinder
2. Closegrip
3. Drop press
Perform each exercise for 5 reps to complete 1 set.
Filmed in Auckland Domain the Rooboard can be used almost anywhere.
Body weight training has topped the lists of fitness trends for many years. I have one small problem with this; it is not really a trend. BWT is one of the oldest and purest forms of exercise. Its popularity has never been in question which is why it is not really a trend. YouTube has increased its popularity tenfold which is great and what we are now seeing is BWT being embraced by a new generation exercise
BWT uses the weight of the body as resistance and is very effective in this regard. You may not increase your muscularity as much as you would with free weight training but you will still build strength and increase muscle size.
BWT works well when when used in conjunction with other training methods. HIIT is almost exclusively BWT and demonstrates how quickly one can get lean when functional exercise is combined with intense cardio bursts.
One the best things about BWT is the cost; absolutely zilch. You can exercise anywhere and I mean anywhere. With a little creative imagination you use steps, hand rails, monkey bars and especially a Rooboard to add intensity and variation to your BWT workouts.
One thing you do need to perform BWT is self-motivation, especially if this is your only form of exercise. Luckily there are now hundreds of Body Weight Training videos on YouTube including the Rooboard Channel. You can download many of these to workout with offline outdoors.
