Distribute Balance
“Symmetry in biology is the balanced distribution of duplicate body parts or shapes within the body of an organism.”
We naturally gravitate towards using one side of our body. As our muscular skeletal system grows so do our asymmetries. This can increase our chances of long term pain or injuries. Many might discover this first when playing sport or performing exercise but many others are discovering their muscular imbalances later in life.
It is unrealistic to assume that we can use both sides of our bodies equally and even more unrealistic to think that we can be consciously aware of this.
The first thing we need to do is test our bodies symmetry with a series of different exercises. With the Rooboard this means performing single limb strength and balance exercises. We will quickly identify which muscles groups are stronger and more stable than their opposites. This is one of the reasons the Rooboard was designed for single limb training and seated exercises.
Now we have identified our imbalance or imbalances we can set about correcting them. This means performing additional reps or additional time on the weaker or less stable muscles until they become as strong and balanced as their equivalents. This will enable us to reach our performance peak.
Balanced
Transform your core and postural strength, balance, stability and fitness with a single product. Designed by Londoner Mason Gilmour-Platt to stay in shape for surfing the Rooboard combines the functionality of many pieces of fitness equipment in a single portable package.
Current users of the Rooboard include surfers, city workers, professional boxers, MMA fighters and members of the British Combined Services Disabled Ski Team. These very early stage Rooboarders have seen huge gains in their stability, agility and postural strength.
The instability element forces the core and stabiliser muscles to engage at all times which in turn increases the intensity of the exercises. This is the secret to the performance of the Rooboard and means you have a shorter workout session for enhanced results.
Muscular
Our posture can say a lot about the health of our muscle functions. Poor posture is usually caused by a lack of core strength or muscular imbalance. This will lead to injuries and back pain and can quite often result in extended leave from work or doing the things we love to do, like surfing. Slouching and slumping are indications of this lack of core strength. A study found that slouching may even make you feel sad.
Once the preserve of athletes, the benefits of balance and stability training are slowly moving into the mainstream consciousness. This type of training improves postural strength, spinal stability and coordination.
